Ruma (formerly De Beste Lekkernij) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit rumabakery.com or get in touch, how we use it, and the rights you have. We keep things minimal. We are a bakery, not an advertising company.
Who we are
Ruma is a Mediterranean bakery at Herenstraat 24A, 1015 CB Amsterdam, the Netherlands. We are the controller of the personal data described in this policy. For any privacy question, email hello@rumabakery.com or call 020 722 5108.
The information we collect
Information you give us. When you use our contact or catering form, or email or call us, we collect your name, your email address, your phone number if you choose to share it, and the contents of your message. We use this only to reply and to arrange any catering or order you ask about.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting provider records basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you view. This keeps the site secure and running and helps us understand general traffic. We do not use it to identify you personally.
Your language choice. We store your selected language in your browser so the site remembers it on your next visit. This stays on your device.
How and why we use your information
- To reply to your enquiries and prepare catering or order quotes, at your request.
- To operate, secure and improve our website, as a legitimate interest.
- To meet any legal or accounting obligations we have.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling.
Cookies and local storage
We do not use advertising, marketing, or analytics cookies. The only thing we store in your browser is your language preference, which is functional and helps the site work the way you expect. The first time you visit, we show a short notice about this.
Our website loads fonts from Google Fonts, and shows links to Google Maps. When these load, the provider may receive your IP address as part of delivering the content. See the next section.
Who we share information with
We use a small number of trusted providers who process data on our behalf or as part of delivering the site:
- Netlify hosts the website and processes our contact form submissions.
- Google Fonts delivers the typefaces used on the site.
- Uber Eats and Thuisbezorgd: if you click an order link you leave our site, and their own privacy policies apply.
- Instagram and TikTok: if you click a social link, their policies apply.
We do not share your information with anyone else, and we never sell it.
International transfers
Some of our providers, such as Netlify and Google, may process data on servers outside the European Economic Area. Where that happens, they rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep your information
We keep enquiry and catering messages only as long as we need them to handle your request and for our normal business records, then we delete them. Server logs are kept for a short period by our hosting provider. Your language preference stays in your browser until you clear it.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict how we use it, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, email hello@rumabakery.com and we will respond.
You also have the right to complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl).
Children's privacy
Our website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. Any significant changes will be reflected on this page.
